We schedule our days to have only one dog or family per person at a time, which means we have time to personally get to know all of our furry friends, as well as their likes and dislikes. Providing express appointments also mean that the dogs that visit us don't spend all day in a cage. They are in and out within just a few hours instead.

This depends on many factors including your pup's coat type, texture, and length, your desired style, and your budget. We typically recommend a 4-6 week schedule for most dogs, but we are happy to work with you and find a style that fits your lifestyle, schedule, and budget!
*As of January 2022, we require each dog to maintain a schedule of no longer that 8 weeks between appointments. Pets we have not seen in more than 8 weeks may incur an additional charge for the additional time, skill, and extra product used during their appointment.*

We accept puppies as soon as they’ve completed their second round of puppy vaccines, usually between 10 and 12 weeks.
We do require all puppies to maintain a regular monthly schedule for their first year.

Did you know that, for a puppy, 2 months is the equivalent of a human year? Human toddlers are hard enough to give a bath already. Imagine if they only got one every 1-2 years!
This is why maintaining a routine grooming schedule is key to your new furry family member learning to not only tolerate, but actually enjoy grooming. The first year of a puppy’s life is a very critical time for learning and socialization as they go through two major fear periods. Here at Barkhaven, we want to set our youngest clients up for success, as grooming will be something they need all their life.
Learn more about fear periods and how to over come them here.

No. We have high standards across the board—from our client interactions, our safety protocol, the quality of the work, the education and knowledge our staff has achieved, as well as our state of the art equipment. We are proud of what we do! In an unlicensed and unregulated industry, we guarantee you will notice the difference from the moment you join the Barkhaven client family.

You only get the hair on your head cut. Your hairstylist doesn’t shave your whole body. Even most small dogs have more surface area than the average human head. And small dogs can be even more difficult to groom than larger ones because they’re smaller than many grooming tools.
Your hair stylist doesn’t include a pedicure and manicure in the price. Nail trimming or grinding is included in the price of your dog’s appointment.
You probably won’t scratch or bite your hair stylist. Assault charge, anyone?
You probably hold still. Little kids might squirm for haircuts, but most adults cooperate. While some dogs hold still for the entire groom, most dogs wiggle for at least certain parts of the process, and some might fidget or fight for the entire grooming.
Your hairdresser only cuts the hair on your head. If you ever asked your hairstylist to trim the dingleberries off your butt, you’d probably be arrested.
You probably won’t pee, poop, or vomit on your hair stylist. Welcome to the glamorous life of a dog groomer, where an after-work shower is mandatory.
You don’t go a month or more without washing or brushing your hair. If your hair stylist had to demat your hair before they could cut it, they would definitely charge extra.
Your hair doesn’t come out in tufts that blow around like a blizzard when your hair is dried. Imagine somebody blowing handfuls of hair in your face while you’re sitting in a sauna and you can appreciate what it’s like for a groomer to dry a double-coated dog like a Husky.

No. In recent years, these services have been found to possibly cause health issues if performed unnecessarily and improperly. We believe that these are issues best handled by your veterinarian.
-
No, all services are by appointment only except nail trims. However, to keep our day running smoothly, we do ask for you to text us for a time to come by rather than just walking in unannounced.
-
For the safety of your pup (they tend to get quite wiggly and excited to see their people), we cannot allow you to stay. However, if you have any concerns about your pooch while in our care, we will happily show you the video footage from our cameras for the time that your dog was here.
-
Certainly! You can drop off at any time before your appointment or pick up your pup up later in the day. We just ask that you let us know before your appointment if you need to leave your pet longer than their appointment so we can schedule accordingly.
